What is an agentic website?

AI-assisted research can help identify useful website changes. People decide what to make, review the work and approve publication. Ongoing work is agreed separately.

A website enquiry path from the page to the next step.

From evidence to a reviewed change

Review available evidence, propose an improvement, and check it after publication. What runs and how often depend on the agreed scope.

  • Review available evidence — Review available website and search data alongside the questions customers ask. The agreed scope determines what we monitor.
  • Make the agreed change — Agree the proposed copy, design or functionality before making the change. Customer-facing work follows the agreed review and release process.
  • Results come back — Check the available results after the change. Separate what the data shows from what we cannot yet attribute.
  • Decide what follows — Use the results to choose the next improvement within the agreed scope.

Not a chatbot bubble. This describes research and reviewed website work. A chat widget is a separate feature, included only when it serves the agreed scope.

Not AI slop. AI can help prepare research and recommendations. People judge the evidence, make the work and approve customer-facing changes.

Not “set and forget”. Ongoing work needs an agreed scope. Search rankings, impressions, and citations can inform the next choice; improvement is not guaranteed.

Questions answered.

What is an agentic website?

At 8gnc, this describes an approach to website improvement: AI helps with research and proposed changes; people review and approve the work. The sources, responsibilities and cadence are agreed separately.

How is it different from a normal website?

The term describes an approach to improving a website, rather than a different kind of build. AI can assist with research and recommendations; ongoing work still needs its own scope, review and measurement.

Is an agentic website just an AI chatbot?

No. Here, the term refers to AI-assisted research and reviewed changes to a website. A customer-facing chatbot is a separate feature that would need its own scope.

Does the site change itself without approval?

No. The agreed reviewer approves the specific customer-facing change before publication. An AI recommendation is not permission to publish.

Why does an agentic website matter now?

AI-generated search answers are another place people may encounter your business. Reviewing current results can reveal missing or unclear information. No process can guarantee that an AI service will cite you.
